Michael Ryther is a San Francisco based indie rock artist whose influences include David Bowie, Leonard Cohen and the Cure. “I’m a sucker for great lyricists, and my aim is to write songs, as Yeats suggests, from the ‘rag and bone shop of the heart’,” says Michael when asked about his songwriting process.
Michael has performed at numerous clubs in Los Angeles including “Whisky A Go Go”, “Genghis Cohen”, “The Knitting Factory” and “The Rainbow Bar and Grill”.
Michael has performed in San Francisco at “Brick and Mortar”, “The Hotel Utah”, “Golden Gate Park’s Beer and Wine Garden” and “Cafe International”.
Michael performs with his twin brother, internationally known violinist David Ryther.
Michael Ryther will released a new single and video, “Avalon”, February 2025. The band consists of Michael Ryther – lead vocals and guitar, David Ryther – violin, Zahra Rothschild – vocals, JC Robles- drums, Vince Feliciano – bass.
